Downtown Landmarks Walk — Centro to Retiro, Buenos Aires

A slow walk through downtown at its most elegant, from the opera house up to the leafy edge of Retiro. Start at the Teatro Colon, ranked among the ten best opera houses in the world, then follow pedestrian Florida to the frescoed dome of Galerias Pacifico. The green slopes of Plaza San Martin come next, before the quiet galleries of Arroyo street and Floreria Atlantico, a bar hidden behind a flower shop, ending at the belle epoque Patio Bullrich, once the Bullrich family's auction house.

Getting there

Subte Line D to Tribunales for the Teatro Colon, or any bus into the microcentro. The walk ends near Line C at Retiro.

This is a busy, well-walked part of the city by day. Florida street fills with people, so keep an eye on your bag in the crowds, and the whole route is easy to leave by subte.
