Barrancas de Belgrano at Dusk

Sloping lawns and a bandstand as the light drops.

Barrancas de Belgrano at Dusk — Belgrano, Buenos Aires

A park of gentle slopes in the middle of Belgrano, landscaped in 1892 by Charles Thays. At its center is a white iron bandstand where people dance tango on warm evenings. Come as the light drops, walk the lawns, and stay for the milonga if there is one.

On this plan

  • Bandstand with weekend milongas
  • Sloping tree-lined lawns
  • Laid out by Charles Thays
  • Cafés a block away
  • Easy flat loop
  • Lovely at dusk

Your afternoon

  1. 6:15 PM · Start on the lawns
    Walk up the slope
  2. The bandstand
    Milonga here on warm nights
  3. Past the fountain
    Loop back down
  4. Coffee at Big Rabbit
    A block from the park

What to bring

  • Light jacket
  • Comfortable shoes
  • A little cash for a coffee

Getting there

Belgrano C on the Mitre line, a few blocks from the park

The park is lively in the evening, especially on milonga nights. Keep to the lit paths once it is fully dark.
